About the walk
We would visit the Jama Masjid and spend some time there learning about how it came into existence and how it eventually evolved along with some very interesting stories about it. We would be going to Gali Naughara, which is a colourful residential lane that consists of 18th century Jain Mansions and would take a tea break there. We’ll explore the famous lanes of Dariba Kalan and Kinari Bazar of Chandni Chowk. After that, we would head towards the haveli of a prominent urdu poet- Mirza Ghalib. We’ll cross the famous Paranthe Wali Gali, where they sell mouthwatering paranthas. We would also cross the main Chandni chowk street where we’ll learn about it’s history and architecture and also get to see many important historical buildings. We would then head towards another famous mosque of Old Delhi- Fatehpuri Masjid which is at the end of the Chandni Chowk street. And we would finally end our walk at a hidden rooftop that not many know about in Khari Baoli which is Asia’s biggest spice market and has a spectacular view of the Chandni Chowk! Apart from all of this there is going to be a lot of food in between every stop!
We would visit the following places:
1. Jama Masjid which is the largest mosque in India.
2. Dariba Kalan- a market famous for silver and other jewellery.
3. Kinari Bazar- one of the most famous lanes of Chandni Chowk!
4. Gali Naughara- 18th century Jain mansions and with a Jain temple at the end of the lane.
5. Ghalib Ki Haveli- The house of Mirza Ghalib
6. Fatehpuri Masjid
7. Khari Baoli and Gadodia Market- Asia’s largest spice market!

To get to the meeting point, you could either take the metro and get off at the Chawri Bazar Metro Station and then take a rickshaw from there or walk. For those coming by car, you could park your cars at the parkings available (1) Outside Jama Masjid Gate No. 3, (2) Sis Ganj Gurudwara Parking & (3) near Jama Masjid.
Instructions
It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes and carry something to cover your head. Also, it is recommended that you dress conservatively. Avoid wearing shorts.
